Yes! If you have a fresh idea or useful information for our readers, we’re interested in you and welcome your submissions! Our growing company strives to develop and maintain personal relationships with each of our clients, both writers and newspapers. Please read about us to learn who we are and what we’re about and see if you believe we’re a good match for each other.
When we receive a submission, we expect several items:
- Your Idea. Newspaper editors are looking for fresh, fresh, fresh ideas that sing of reader interest and loyalty. Most of our authors write at least one article per week for their columns—that’s a lot of articles in one year. We need unique columns that deserve that much time and attention! Please describe your topic and target audience, some ideas for specific articles, and what sets your feature apart from other syndicated columns.
- Five (5) or More Writing Samples, both published and not. Though we generally acquire only unpublished material, these samples help us visualize you as a writer. Please be sure to send copies, not originals. And keep in mind when selecting your samples that most articles for our columns will need to be between 500 and 600 words. If you are interested in writing a daily column, please send 15 to 20 samples.
- Biography/Resume. We are primarily interested in any previous writing experiences, and any qualifications and experiences related to your proposed column’s topic. If you already have a client list, that information would also be helpful. Please include your name, address, phone number, and email address on the bio.
- Personal photo. We prefer clear, candid shots, rather than formal photographs.
- Self-Addressed, Stamped Envelope. Please remember to include a SASE with adequate postage (not metered). This will speed delivery of our response, and will ensure return of your materials if needed. If you include a SASP (postcard), we will confirm receipt of your submission.
- Contact Info. We will be happy to e-mail you with our response as soon as it is available if you provide your e-mail address. Otherwise, you’ll get a written response by snail mail IF you provide adequate postage.
